COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Adams State Univeristy men’s soccer senior defender and team captain Raul Sanchez(Alliance, Neb.) was selected to the Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference Men’s Soccer All-Academic First Team. In addition to Sanchez’s honor, ASU junior defender/midfielder Vicente Vega (Greeley, Colo.) was named to the RMAC All-Academic Second Team. The decisions were based on a voting system involving sports information professionals throughout the RMAC.
Sanchez, majoring in mathematics with a 3.78 GPA, received his second-consecutive academic honor from the RMAC. In 2011, Sanchez was named to the RMAC All-Academic Second Team. Twice throughout his career, Sanchez received the Division 2 ADA Academic Achievement Award. On three occasions, Sanchez was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll
Vega, majoring in business administration with a 3.42 GPA, made the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll twice throughout his career. Vega started in 15 of the Grizzlies’ 17 matches in 2011. In 2012, Vega started in eight matches and has played in all 11 ASU matches to date.
In addition to the honors received by Sanchez and Vega, sophomore Erik Henrickson (Burley, Idaho) made the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll majoring in business administration with 3.36 GPA.

Annually, the RMAC selects a first and second All-Academic team for men’s soccer. Initially, nominations are submitted by each participating institution, To qualify for a nomination, minimum requirements include a GPA of 3.30 or higher, be a starter or reserve on his team and completed two semesters or three quarters at the current institution. The student-athlete’s cumulative GPA is what was earned prior to the start of the 2012 soccer season.
