It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the recent death of a student, Omar

Horani, age 21. The cause of his death on Aug. 17, 2013, is unknown at this time.

Omar was a senior biology major from Tigard, Oregon, and a member of Adams State’s

men’s lacrosse team.

During difficult times, it is important to draw strength from each other and from

the larger community of which we are a part. Free and confidential counseling is

available for students, faculty, and staff who may need support in dealing with this

loss.

Students:

Students can contact the University’s Counseling Center, located in 220 Richardson

Hall, 719-587-7746. Support is also available from the Campus Ministries Center,

719-587-7516.

Faculty and staff:

All faculty and staff members can receive counseling services from the Colorado

State Employee Assistance Program (C-SEAP), which can be reached by calling

1-800-821-8154. Additional information is available on the ASU Human Resources

website: http://www.adams.edu/administration/hr/resources.php

Many on our campus are grieving, and I know you join me in offering sincere

condolences to Omar’s family and friends. We will announce other pertinent

information regarding memorials and arrangements as it becomes available.

Sincerely,

Ken Marquez
