Beginning at 9:00 PM MST Thursday evening (9/16), the Banner PROD environment will be unavailable until approximately 2:00 AM MST Friday morning, 9/17, while Oracle Quarter 3 PSU updates are deployed. During this time, ALL Banner PROD services will be unavailable, including Banner Admin, Self-Service, Web-Services, and School Services, etc.

Also beginning at 9:00 PM MST Thursday, Computing Services will be installing September 2021 Microsoft patches/updates to our test systems for future deployment. We anticipate no impact for client-facing systems.

Degree Works PROD Downtime this week/early next (9/10 and 9/13)

The Degree Works Production (PROD) environment will be down for the specific periods this Friday (9/10) and next Monday (9/13) as follows:

***Degree Works PROD Downtime for Friday, 9/10/21***

On Friday morning, beginning at 7:30 AM MST, the Degree Works PROD environment will be unavailable for a short time (approximately 10-15 minutes) while Computing Services switches Degree Works from the LDAP system to AD. During this brief period, ALL Degree Works services will be inaccessible. 

***Degree Works PROD Downtime for Monday, 9/13/21***

Early next week, the Degree Works PROD environment will be unavailable beginning at 12:00 AM MST Sunday evening (9/12/21) until Monday morning (9/13/21) at 5:00 AM MST, while Oracle Quarter 3 updates are deployed. During this time, ALL Degree Works services will be inaccessible.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, 9/2/21 and Tuesday, 9/7/21

This week and early next, Computing Services will be performing the following maintenance activities:

***Maintenance Activities for Thursday, 9/2/21***

Beginning at 9:00 PM MST on Thursday evening, we will be:

–Installing Microsoft Windows patches to all Windows-based systems, including employee, lab and TEC Classroom computers. These patches will force a reboot, so please log off and leave your computers on at the end of your work day Thursday to assist with installation. 

–Installing August 2021 Microsoft patches/updates to our test systems for possible deployment next week. We anticipate no impact for client-facing systems.

***Maintenance Activities for Tuesday, 9/7/21***

Beginning at 6:00 PM MST on Tuesday evening, and lasting approximately 2 hours, we will be upgrading the System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), the system that is used to push all Windows updates, software updates, and new applications. We expect no impact to users outside of Computing Services while this maintenance is performed.

Emergency Network maintenance on Tuesday, 8/24 between 4:00-5:00 AM

Computing Services will be performing emergency maintenance Tuesday morning, at 5:00 AM as we work to address the network slowdowns and interruptions that campus has experienced. At roughly 5:00 AM, all Internet and networking services will be briefly unavailable as we reboot the campus firewall. We chose this time to minimize the impact to students and employees.

Beginning at 9:00 PM MST, this evening (Thursday, 8/12), Computing Services will be installing August 2021 Microsoft patches/updates to our test systems for future deployment. We anticipate no impact for client-facing systems.

Also beginning at 9:00 PM, and lasting approximately 3 hours, Computing Services will be upgrading the Docker Enterprise cluster. While minimal downtime is expected, users may experience intermittent outages (5-15 minutes) and/or brief interruptions (up to 30 minutes) to various network services, including Banner and Degree Works, as the maintenance is performed.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, 8/5/21

Beginning at 9:00 PM MST tomorrow evening (Thursday, 8/5) and lasting until approximately 12:00 AM MST, Computing Services will be updating back-end servers related to OpenVPN and the campus wireless network access control system. We expect both systems to be down for 3 hours while the work is performed, with users unable to access the VPN (virtual private network) system, as well as new users being unable to connect to the wireless network during this period. Existing wireless users should not be affected.

Beginning at 7:00 AM MST Saturday, 7/24, and lasting until approximately 1:00 PM, the Banner Production environment will be unavailable while 2nd Quarter Updates are deployed. During this time, ALL Banner PROD services will be unavailable, including Banner Admin, Self-Service, Web-Services, and School Services, etc.

–Beginning at 6:00 PM MST, we will be updating CLEAN Address in the Banner Production environment. We expect minimal impact to campus.

–Beginning at 9:00 PM MST, Computing Services will be installing July 2021 Microsoft patches/updates to our test systems for possible deployment next week. We anticipate no impact for client-facing systems.

–Also beginning at 9:00 PM MST, until approximately 12:00 AM MST, we will be updating back-end servers related to the campus wireless network. We expect the SafeConnect system to be down for 2-3 hours while the work is performed, with some users being unable to connect to the wireless network during this period.
