CS Maintenance for Thursday 6/23/16

Beginning at 9:00 PM, Employee, lab and TEC Classroom PCs will receive updates to Windows, VLC, Shockwave, Chrome, Flash, Air, FireFox, ThunderBird, and Pidgin.  Apple Macintosh will receive updates for OS X, VLC, Shockwave, Chrome, Flash, Air, and FireFox.

Employees are encouraged to log off but leave their computers on when leaving work for the day.  This will assist the installation of these patches and minimize any impact.

CS Maintenance for tonight, Thursday 6/2/16

Computing Services will be applying some firmware updates to the Richardson Hall network infrastructure beginning at7:00 PM. For roughly 1 hour, all network services in Richardson Hall will be unavailable due to this maintenance.

Computing Services Maintenance for today, Thursday, May 19, 2016

Beginning at 9:00 PM, Employee, lab and TEC Classroom PCs will receive critical security updates to Acrobat, Flash, Reader, Shockwave, Chrome, Firefox, Thunderbird, VLC, Windows, and Office. Employees are encouraged to log off but leave their computers on when leaving work for the day. This will assist the installation of these patches and minimize any impact.

Also beginning at 9:00 PM, ALL Banner systems will be unavailable until around midnight. This is required for a major configuration change and updates to Oracle.

Lastly, at 9:00 we will be applying critical security patches to the campus file server and CS Helpdesk system. There will be about 15-20 minutes in which home and shared directories will not be accessible as the system reboots.

Banner downtime tomorrow, Saturday (4/23) for re-scheduled Banner General Upgrade

Due to the unplanned issues we experienced last weekend, we have rescheduled the Banner upgrade for tomorrow, Saturday April 23rd. Beginning at 8:00 AM, ALL Banner systems will be unavailable until around noon. This is required for a major upgrade to the Banner General module 8.8.3.

Banner downtime Saturday (4/16) and CS Maintenance for today, Thursday, April 14, 2016

Beginning at 9:00 PM, Employee, lab and TEC Classroom PCs will receive critical security updates to Windows, Office and Flash. MAC computers will receive updates to Flash and Chrome. Employees are encouraged to log off but leave their computers on when leaving work for the day. This will assist the installation of these patches and minimize any impact.

Also beginning at 9:00 PM, we will be rebooting one of our wireless controllers which will cause a 15-20 minute outage to wireless services in the SUB and Leon Hall.

Computing Services Maintenance for today, Thursday, March 24, 2016

Beginning at 5:00 PM there will be a brief outage to the wireless services in the Student Union Building as we reboot the system that controls that area. For 5-10 minutes, there will be no wireless service in the SUB.

Also, beginning at 9:00 PM, and lasting roughly 30 minutes, several back-end systems will be unavailable as we install critical security updates and reboot the servers. This includes the campus file server, print server, Donor2 and the campus tutor-trac server.

Computing Services Maintenance for today, Thursday, March 17, 2016

Beginning at 7:00 PM the Banner forms server will be unavailable for roughly one hour as we resolve a bug with the system. Also, we are currently continuing to work on the Banner DEVL system and do not have an exact estimate on when the system will be back online. As we make progress, we will notify all Banner users.

Also, beginning at 9:00 PM, Employee, lab and TEC Classroom PCs will receive critical security updates to Adobe Flash. Campus MACs will receive updates to Flash, Firefox, and Reader. Employees are encouraged to log off but leave their computers on when leaving work for the day. This will assist the installation of these patches and minimize any impact.

Lastly, beginning at 9:00 PM and lasting roughly 30 minutes, several back-end systems will be unavailable as we install critical security updates and reboot the servers. This includes the CS Helpdesk system, the campus file server, print server, and the campus how-to wiki.

Computing Service Maintenance for Thursday, March 10th, 2016

Beginning at 21:00 Employee, lab, and Tech. Classroom Windows PCs will receive security updates for Chrome and Firefox web browsers, and Adobe Flash software.  Employees are encouraged to log off but leave their computers on when leaving work for the day. This will assist the installation of these patches and minimize any impact.

Beginning at 21:00 many Banner services will experience brief outages due to updates, including One Stop web page Student Accounts and Online Payments, and Faculty/Staff web page Web Services and Advising.  Password changes will briefly be unavailable as well.
