Banner QA Downtime for Thursday, 8/26/21

Beginning at 9:30 PM MST tomorrow evening (Thursday, 8/26), the Banner Quality Assurance (QA) environment will be unavailable until approximately 2:00 AM MST Friday morning while Oracle Quarter 3 PSU updates are deployed. We anticipate no impact to client-facing systems from this maintenance activity.

Emergency Network maintenance on Tuesday, 8/24 between 4:00-5:00 AM

Computing Services will be performing emergency maintenance Tuesday morning, at 5:00 AM as we work to address the network slowdowns and interruptions that campus has experienced. At roughly 5:00 AM, all Internet and networking services will be briefly unavailable as we reboot the campus firewall. We chose this time to minimize the impact to students and employees.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, 8/12/21

Beginning at 9:00 PM MST, this evening (Thursday, 8/12), Computing Services will be installing August 2021 Microsoft patches/updates to our test systems for future deployment. We anticipate no impact for client-facing systems.

Also beginning at 9:00 PM, and lasting approximately 3 hours, Computing Services will be upgrading the Docker Enterprise cluster. While minimal downtime is expected, users may experience intermittent outages (5-15 minutes) and/or brief interruptions (up to 30 minutes) to various network services, including Banner and Degree Works, as the maintenance is performed.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, 8/5/21

Beginning at 9:00 PM MST tomorrow evening (Thursday, 8/5) and lasting until approximately 12:00 AM MST, Computing Services will be updating back-end servers related to OpenVPN and the campus wireless network access control system. We expect both systems to be down for 3 hours while the work is performed, with users unable to access the VPN (virtual private network) system, as well as new users being unable to connect to the wireless network during this period. Existing wireless users should not be affected.

The 2021 Banner Quarter 2 Updates have been deployed to the production environment this morning, July 24th 2021. The Banner Admin and Self-Service applications are available at this time.

Banner PROD Downtime and Computing Services Maintenance this week

This week, Computing Services will be performing the following critical maintenance tasks required for various systems:

***Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, 7/22/21***

Beginning at 9:00 PM MST tomorrow evening (Thursday, 7/22), Computing Services will be installing July Microsoft updates on all Windows production servers. Throughout this time, users will experience intermittent outages (5-15 minutes) and brief interruptions (10-15 minutes) to network services as systems reboot. 

***Banner PROD Downtime for Saturday, 7/24/21***

Beginning at 7:00 AM MST Saturday, 7/24, and lasting until approximately 1:00 PM, the Banner Production environment will be unavailable while 2nd Quarter Updates are deployed. During this time, ALL Banner PROD services will be unavailable, including Banner Admin, Self-Service, Web-Services, and School Services, etc.

Computing Services will be performing several maintenance activities this evening, Thursday, 7/15/21. See below for details:

–Beginning at 6:00 PM MST, we will be updating CLEAN Address in the Banner Production environment. We expect minimal impact to campus.

–Beginning at 9:00 PM MST, Computing Services will be installing July 2021 Microsoft patches/updates to our test systems for possible deployment next week. We anticipate no impact for client-facing systems.

–Also beginning at 9:00 PM MST, until approximately 12:00 AM MST, we will be updating back-end servers related to the campus wireless network. We expect the SafeConnect system to be down for 2-3 hours while the work is performed, with some users being unable to connect to the wireless network during this period.

DegreeWorks Upgrade to 5.0.5.1: Unavailable on Wed 6/30/21 & Thurs 7/1/21

The Degree Works degree audit system will be unavailable on Wednesday 6/30/21 & Thursday 7/1/21 to be upgraded to the latest released version of 5.0.5.1. Assuming all goes well the Degree Works system should be available on Friday, but if issues are encountered it could take longer. An email message will be sent to campus at the end of the business day on Thursday regarding the status of the system.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, 6/24/21

Beginning at 9:00 PM MST tomorrow evening (Thursday, 6/24), Computing Services will be installing Microsoft Windows patches to all Windows-based systems, including employee, lab and TEC Classroom computers. These patches will force a reboot, so please log off and leave your computers on at the end of your work day Thursday to assist with installation.
