September 8th, 2017 — Announcement, System Status
We have received confirmation from CenturyLink that they have finished splicing our fiber and restored Internet service for all of campus. If you are still having issues, please reboot your devices and try again. There may be some slowness as all of our users are getting back on the network, so please be patient. If you are still having problems after a reboot, please contact us at 587-7741, stop by our office, or send us an email at computingservices@adams.edu

CenturyLink had crews working through the night to pull in 1300 feet of replacement fiber optic cable that had been damaged. They are currently splicing and working to reconnect ASU. They have not been able to give us an estimated time for restoring our services, but they are doing everything they can to get it done. We will share updates as we get them, thanks for your patience.

Services are partially restored. Labs, classrooms, and staff desktops are functional over a backup Internet link. Resnet and Wireless networks are still down at this time. CenturyLink is still troubleshooting the problem for the ASU campus and Charter/Spectrum.

August 25th, 2017 — Announcement, Maintenance Announcements
Beginning last night around 10:30 PM, ASU experienced an Internet service outage that lasted until roughly 7:45 AM. There were reports of other services in the area such as Spectrum Cable Internet and Verizon data services being down as well. We have reached out to CenturyLink, our main campus Internet Service Provider to understand what happened and to hopefully ensure that this does not happen again.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

August 15th, 2017 — Announcement, System Status
At around 4:30 PM, campus experienced an outage to networking services due to an apparent hardware error on the campus firewall. Services were restored at around 5:30 PM. Computing Services will continue to monitor the situation closely and more deeply investigate the cause of the outage. This was not a planned outage, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. If you or others in your area are having trouble connecting, please reboot your device, and if you are still having problems, please contact the ASU Computing Services Helpdesk at computingservices@adams.edu or call us at x7741 and we will respond to you as soon as we are able to.

August 9th, 2017 — Announcement, Maintenance Announcements
With the beginning of the semester fast approaching, Computing Services has a significant amount of maintenance we must complete this week. Below are all of the maintenance activities taking place this week:
**Thursday Night Maintenance Activities**
Beginning at 6:00 PM, we will be performing upgrades to the PaperCut and WebPrint systems. This will not affect services for our customers.
Beginning at 9:00, we will be installing Mac and Windows patches to all TECs, Lab and employee computers. Employees are encouraged to log off but leave their computers on to assist in the installation of these patches and minimize impact.
Also beginning at 9:00 PM, there will be various brief interruptions to several back-end systems as we install critical patches. The campus file server will be unavailable for roughly 30 minutes during this time.
***Banner PROD down for critical updates starting this Saturday, August 12th at 7:00 AM***
The Production Banner Database will be down starting at 7:00 AM on Saturday morning and lasting until around 10:00 AM as we install critical Oracle security updates. During this time, ALL Production Banner services will be unavailable.

August 2nd, 2017 — Announcement, Maintenance Announcements
With the beginning of the semester fast approaching, Computing Services has a significant amount of maintenance we must complete in the next few weeks. Below are all of the maintenance activities taking place this week:
**Planned campus network and employee telephone downtime, this Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM**
In order to retire a component of our campus network, we must take down ALL campus networking services beginning at 6:00 PM. This will affect ALL networking, telephone and Internet services including logging in to the labs, Banner access, wireless, Internet service, employee desk telephones, etc. If you have any concerns, please contact the ASU Computing Services Helpdesk as soon as possible to let us know, x7741 or via email at computingservices@adams.edu
**9:00 PM Maintenance activities this Thursday**
Beginning at 9:00 PM, several back-end systems including several Banner systems will be intermittently unavailable as we apply security updates and patches to these systems and install new Uninterrupted Power Systems. Estimated downtime is roughly 2 hours as we perform these tasks.

The Production Banner Database will be down starting at 7:00 AM on Saturday morning and lasting until around 5:00 PM as we install critical Banner updates. During this time, ALL Production Banner services will be unavailable.
**Notice of potential parking interruption near Richardson Hall Friday beginning at 9:00 AM**
Computing Services will be having a large truck parked in the small south-west parking lot of Richardson Hall to pick up of old, obsoleted equipment. Richardson Hall employees may want to park in alternate locations on Friday morning to avoid getting blocked in and to assist with the truck being able to get closer to the loading zone.
