***Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, 6/18/20***

Computing Services will be performing several maintenance activities beginning at 9:00 PM tomorrow, Thursday, 6/18.

First, Computing Services will be installing Microsoft Windows patches to all Windows-based systems, including employee, lab and TEC Classroom computers, even ASU-owned computers being used by employees at home. These patches will force a reboot, so please log off and leave your computers on at the end of your work day on Thursday.

Also beginning at 9:00 PM, we will be performing maintenance and installing Microsoft patches on all Windows production servers. Throughout this time, users will experience intermittent outages (5-15 minutes) and brief interruptions to network services as systems reboot.

Finally, also at 9:00 PM on Thursday evening, we will be cleaning up unused mount points on Banner DB servers; shutdown imar. No impact is expected.

Banner PROD and DegreeWorks Downtime, 5/30/20

Good day, Adams State Banner Users Community.

***DegreeWorks Downtime starting Monday, 6/1/20 through Sunday, 6/14/20***
The DegreeWorks PROD environment will be unavailable Monday, 6/1, through Sunday, 6/14 while both the upgrade to DW version 5.0.3 and Oracle 19c occurs. During this time, ALL production DegreeWorks services will be inaccessible.

***Banner PROD Downtime for Saturday, 5/30/20***
The Banner Production environment will be unavailable this Saturday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm for the Banner 2020 Quarter 1 (Phase 1) updates to be deployed to the system. The Banner PROD ADMIN and Self-Service web applications will not be available during this time. Once the updates are complete and verified a notice will be sent out to campus.

First, Computing Services will be installing Microsoft Windows patches and a Google Chrome update (version 81.0.4103.61) to all Windows-based systems, including employee, lab and TEC Classroom computers, even ASU-owned computers being used by employees at home. These patches will force a reboot, so please log off and leave your computers on at the end of your work day on Thursday.

Also beginning at 9:00 PM, we will be performing maintenance and installing Microsoft patches on all Windows production servers. Throughout this time, users will experience intermittent outages (5-15 minutes) and brief interruptions to network services as systems reboot.

Banner Downtime and CS Maintenance for Thursday, 5/14

Now that the semester has ended and we are past our maintenance freeze, Computing Services will be performing several critical maintenance tasks that are required for our various systems. See below for details.

***Banner Downtime and CS Maintenance for Thursday, 5/14***

Beginning at 9:00 PM this evening (Thursday, 5/14/2020), we will be:

–Installing the latest Google Chrome and Firefox browsers to campus computers. While no reboots are required for either application, employees are encouraged to log off, but leave their computers on when leaving work today to assist in the installation of these updates. This applies to ASU-owned computers both currently on campus, and being used from home.

–Installing May 2020 Microsoft patches/updates to the test system, for possible deployment next week. We anticipate no impact for client-facing systems.

–Performing maintenance on several campus systems. Brief reboots will be required to the campus blogs, events, how-to, the campus LDAP systems (proxies and master), and DNS name servers. There will be minimal interruptions to campus services as we perform these maintenance activities.

–Installing Linux updates on the Oracle DB hosts, gitlab, and proxies, including adding the updated TLS certificate.

–Migrating DegreeWorks PROD to SSD fast storage.

Also beginning at 9:00 PM this evening, but after the Linux updates are completed, the Banner production environment will be unavailable until early Friday morning while Oracle PSU Quarter 1 updates are deployed to the PROD environment. During this time, ALL Production Banner services will be unavailable.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, 4/30/2020

Beginning at 9:00 PM tonight (Thursday, 4/30/2020), and lasting until approximately 10:30 PM, the Financial Aid 8.38/9.3.20 Regulatory Updates will be deployed to Banner PROD. While Banner Admin Applications will not be available during this time period, Banner Self-Service and Web-Services will not be affected.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, 4/23

Computing Services will be performing several maintenance activities beginning at 9:00 PM tomorrow, Thursday, 4/23. First, Computing Services will be installing Microsoft Windows patches and the Google Chrome update 81.0.4044.113 to all Windows-based systems, including employee, lab and TEC Classroom computers, even ASU-owned computers being used by employees at home. These patches will force a reboot, so please log off and leave your computers on at the end of your work day on Thursday.

Also beginning at 9:00 PM, we will be performing maintenance and installing patches on all Windows production servers. Throughout this time, users will experience intermittent outages (5-15 minutes) and brief interruptions to network services as systems reboot.

And finally, also at 9:00 PM, we will be moving Banner backup mount points to the new backup server and Banner PROD Oracle data to the kvm_prod (fast storage) pool. During this approximately 4 hours of downtime, ALL Banner services will be inaccessible, which includes Banner 9, Self-Service, Web-Services, School Services, and DegreeWorks, etc.

PROD Oracle DB 19c Upgrade: Banner Available 3/21/20 ~ 11:30 am

The Oracle 19c upgrade was successfully deployed to the Banner production environment throughout the night and verified this morning. The Banner Admin and Self-Service Applications are available at this time. If there is any issue logging into Banner, then restart your computer and retry the process in the Banner ERP. If the issue persists, then create a RT Workorder Ticket in the Banner Development & Issues queue including the parameters used, the error message, and a screenshot of the error.

Banner PROD Oracle DB 19c Upgrade: Unavailable Friday Night 3/20/20 through Saturday Afternoon 3/21/20

*Banner PROD Oracle DB 19c Upgrade: Unavailable Friday Night 3/20/20 through Saturday Afternoon 3/21/20*

The Banner production environment will be unavailable this Friday 3/20/20 from 8 pm until approximately Saturday noon, due to the mandatory Oracle Database 19c Upgrade. If issues are encountered, then Banner could possibly remain offline through Sunday 3/22/20. The campus will be notified if an issue is encountered and when the Banner systems are restored. All Banner Admin and Self-Service applications will be unavailable during this upgrade, which includes services such as applications, registration, attendance tracking, unofficial transcripts, tax forms, BDMS/Application Xtender processes, etc. No Blackboard services will be impacted during this Oracle Database upgrade.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, 3/19/2020

Beginning at 9:00 PM on Thursday, 3/19/2020, Computing Services will be installing Microsoft Windows patches to campus computers. Employees are encouraged to log off but leave their computers on when leaving work tomorrow to assist in the installation of these patches.

Also during the maintenance window, Computing Services will be performing maintenance and installing updates and patches to the TLS certificates, as well as proxy and Windows servers. Throughout this time, users will experience intermittent outages (5-15 minutes) and brief interruptions to network services as systems reboot.

In addition, we will be performing PoE (power over ethernet) updates in campus buildings related to access points, security cameras, and VoIP phones. When arriving to work on Friday morning, your phone should function normally. Reminder- Critical Windows Security Patches and maintenance, please leave PCs on over Spring Break

***Computing Services Maintenance for Employee computers***

As a quick reminder before we head into Spring Break, Computing Services will be pushing out critical security patches to all Windows computers starting this weekend and over Spring Break. If you are leaving campus for Spring Break, please be sure to leave your computer turned on in order to assist the installation of these patches.

***Helpful How-tos, forwarding your campus phone number, connecting to home/shared drives remotely***

Computing Services has configured our phone system so that employee desk phones can be forwarded to cell phones as needed. For information on how to set this up, please refer to this document: https://howto.adams.edu/Telephone. Forwarding information is located at the bottom of the page. ***How to access your files from home***

You can access your Google Drive from home!  Navigate to drive.google.com, and login with your ASU credentials. You can also access your shared drives (S:) and your home drive (X:).  When you open a web browser, you can navigate to https://myfiles.adams.edu, you will login with your ASU userid (not your full email address) and your password.
