Who we are:
The IT Governance Committee of Adams State University is comprised of six entities that represent students, faculty, staff and administration including the ASU Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Director of the Academic Instructional Technology Center (AITC), the Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Budget and Technology, the Faculty Technology Advisory Committee (FTAC), the Administrative Technology Advisory Committee (ATAC), and the Student Technology Advisory Committee (STAC).
Common Goals:
Through shared governance, the IT Governance Committee of Adams State University works collaboratively to encourage clear communication and transparency regarding IT project and task prioritization along with IT resource allocation decisions and strategies at Adams State University. The committee recognizes that budgetary and personnel resources in Computing Services and in the Academic Instructional Technology Center are limited, and effective planning, cooperation and oversight into resource allocation with representation from faculty, students and staff is critical for the continued success of these departments and Adams State University as a whole.
What we do:
- Each academic year, during the fall semester, the CIO, AVP for Budget and Technology, AITC Director, and FTAC, ATAC and STAC members will review the current Institutional Technology Plan and identify updates to the plan.
- The entire Institutional Technology Plan will be updated by the IT Governance Committee, staff of Computing Services and AITC every three years or when the University’s Strategic Plan goals are updated.
- To coincide with the budget request process, by October 1st of each year, the chairs of the FTAC, STAC, and ATAC work collaboratively with all of their constituents to draft their top IT priorities for the remainder of the current fiscal year and the next year. These priorities will first be presented to the IT Governance Committee for review. Top priorities as determined by the IT Governance Committee will then be presented to Cabinet (prior to the annual budget request process) in November of each year as an informational item.
- Items that are common throughout the FTAC, STAC and ATAC will be discussed by the IT Governance Committee and where feasible, incorporated into the project list of either Computing Services or AITC. Items that are of high priority, but are not funded, will be presented to the University through the annual budget request process.
- IT inventories and standards will be reviewed by the FTAC, STAC and ATAC and reported to the IT Governance Committee to prevent duplication of services and improve communications regarding the technical capabilities the campus currently possesses. Inquiries and proposals for new technology solutions will be reviewed for compatibility, resource management, duplication and alternative solutions by the IT Governance Committee.
- Updates to existing or new IT policies will be reviewed by the FTAC, STAC and ATAC and reported to the IT Governance Committee to incorporate feedback from campus constituents.
