There will be very brief outages due to reboots on several back-end systems as we install critical security patches to these systems. Interruption to campus services should be minimal.

Thank you,

Computing Services

Brief wireless networking outages today (1/13/15).

Computing Service will be doing work today to improve the reliability and capacity of the Campus Wireless Networking System.  As part of that process the main wireless networking controller will need to be reconfigured.  This reconfiguration will require rebooting the controller at least once and potentially as many as three times today.  These reboots will result in an outage of all wireless networking service on our Campus for as much as 15 minutes in some areas as both controller and access points reboot.  Services should return to normal after the system stabilizes.  This will be the only announcement today so please remind others of the situation today.  If there are any questions or concerns please contact the Help Desk at 7741. Thanks for your patience as we work to complete our preparations for the beginning of the semester.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, May 17th, 2012

The following maintenance activities will take place beginning at 9 PM during our regularly scheduled maintenance window:

All Employee and TEC Classroom computers will receive upgrades to Windows and Office. Employees are encouraged to leave their computers turned on, but to log off when leaving work for the day. This will assist with the installation process and ensures that the process can run before employees return to work on Friday.

The Windows Servers will be rebooted after installing critical security patches. This will affect printing, file server home directories, and shared directories. Users should experience less than an hour of downtime.

The One Card server will experience an hour downtime while it undergoes normal maintenance.

Computing Services Maintenance for 5/27 and 5/28/2010

The following activities will take place this Thursday, May 27th after 9:00 PM:

-Critical and security patches from Microsoft will be pushed out to all employee,

lab and TEC Classrooms. If possible, please leave any employee computers turned on

when you leave work on Thursday in order to reduce the amount of interruption to

your work schedule.

Also scheduled for this weekend beginning promptly at 5 PM on Friday (5/28) is the

student email migration to GMail. Although this will not affect employee email

services, Computing Services wanted to inform all faculty and staff in the event

that a student inquires about the cut-over. Below is a copy of the message sent

to all current students:

----

Just a quick reminder that we will be shutting down the student email server this

weekend, as we complete the migration of all student email accounts to Google Apps.

The server will be inaccessible beginning at 5PM on Friday (5/28). Once your email

has been migrated, you will be able to access all of your messages and your

addressbook by logging into http://mail.grizzlies.adams.edu. With this change,

your email address will also change to username@grizzlies.adams.edu. We will

forward any incoming email to your new account for a few months, but you will

need to notify your contacts of your new address.

We appreciate your patience as we finish this migration, and please don't

hesitate to contact the ASC Computing Services Helpdesk at asccompserv@adams.edu

or by calling us at x7741 with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,
Computing Services
