Passing the Time

When social networking and Netflix fail what do we turn to? The daily news websites just aren’t giving us that satisfaction we need when we’re eating our breakfast, or late at night in the peace and comfort of our own homes. I don’t know why we wouldn’t be fully entertained by the news at the moment, the news should be more than enough to keep us entertained, it’s full of the joys of the current election, it doesn’t get better then that right? In the recent weeks of my college venture I found myself trying to wonder further away from the day to day obsessions we have. I recently rekindled an old love of mine.

This gem among the stones is perfect for passing the time. It consists of some innovative and inspiring ideas and stories. It’s factual and fun. It has a wealth of information. Stumbleupon is the Internet’s greatest creation. Yes I stumble. This monstrous engine does the tedious work for us and searches the web in any specific field of interest. So, if you’re looking for a quick and easy meal that taste better and cost the same as Mc.D’s its perfect. Sometimes you may find that you need a few giggles, think no further then stumble, its quality for entertainment and quirky ideas.

For many of you who do not know what Stumbleupon is, you’re in for a treat. This website allows you to select as many of your interests as you like, from there you will be brought to websites that your interest spark. For example, if you’re a meat head and love to work out or you’re a lady looking to get toned, mark the box that says fitness. After selecting your interest there is a button located on the top left hand corner of your screen that says “stumble”. If the page doesn’t interest you enough just go right ahead and click stumble again and it will bring you to a new page of your interest.  Stumble is great for quirky little tips that help you’re daily routine. For example when I was cooking mash potatoes the other night I remembered stumbling upon a site that told me how to keep pasta or potatoes foam from boiling over by simply placing a wooden spoon across the pot, amazing.

If you’re looking for some intriguing news that somehow manages to sneak its way through the net then stumble is the place to go to. I have Stumbledupon some remarkably and interesting topics in my stumble career. In recent news, I stumbled upon an inspiring story of a 31 year old amputee climb up one of the tallest sky scrapers in the world with a bionic leg. A truly remarkable achievement, for a person to be able to overcome such barriers to achieve their own goals is amazing. Just as important as this person’s achievement is the acknowledgement of bionic leg. This bionic leg is a remarkable piece of engineering as it controlled by the person’s brain. Without straying too far from the topic, I have to say that Stumbleupon is one of the greatest creations the web has stumbled across. It’s one of the most simple, yet, innovative ideas anyone has had. If you don’t believe me try it for yourself, you don’t know what you’re missing.
