ALAMOSA, Colo. – The faculty of the Mass Communication program at Adams State proudly announce their course offerings for the spring of 2015. The program has a couple of new courses that the faculty anticipates students will enjoy. Beth Bonnstetter will be teaching COMM 255 Fundamentals of Media Communication, which is a General Education course, but also a requirement for all Mass Communication majors. Bonnstetter is also teaching COMM 420 Rhetoric of Popular culture. This is a new course for majors that takes the place of the now-defunct Senior Capstone. Mass Communication seniors who have not taken the seminar should plan to take this course, and it is advised for major juniors and seniors as well. Non-majors should speak to Bonnstetter if they would like to take the course. Bonnstetter is offering COMM 379 Public Relations as well, which the major is bringing back due to popular demand. The course is open to all majors, but it is advised that students have completed ENG 102 Communication Arts II. Students interested in this course should sign up for COMM 379, section 1.

Danny Ledonne will be teaching COMM 179/379 Screenwriting, a new course to the major. Interested first-year students and sophomores should sign up for COMM 179, and interested juniors and seniors should sign up for COMM 379, section 2. Ledonne is also teaching COMM 360 Media Management and COMM 367 Short Film and Movie Trailer Production. All of these courses are elective options for majors; non-majors should see Ledonne. The Radio, Video, and Newspaper practicum courses will be offered again this semester, directed by Bonnstetter, Ledonne, and Katie Gubbels, respectively. Mass Communication majors, and indeed all majors, should make appointments with their advisor (Bonnstetter is the advisor for Mass Communication) as soon as possible, as registration begins November 3.
