Banner Downtime and CS Maintenance for Thursday, 5/14

Now that the semester has ended and we are past our maintenance freeze, Computing Services will be performing several critical maintenance tasks that are required for our various systems. See below for details.

***Banner Downtime and CS Maintenance for Thursday, 5/14***

Beginning at 9:00 PM this evening (Thursday, 5/14/2020), we will be:

–Installing the latest Google Chrome and Firefox browsers to campus computers. While no reboots are required for either application, employees are encouraged to log off, but leave their computers on when leaving work today to assist in the installation of these updates. This applies to ASU-owned computers both currently on campus, and being used from home.

–Installing May 2020 Microsoft patches/updates to the test system, for possible deployment next week. We anticipate no impact for client-facing systems.

–Performing maintenance on several campus systems. Brief reboots will be required to the campus blogs, events, how-to, the campus LDAP systems (proxies and master), and DNS name servers. There will be minimal interruptions to campus services as we perform these maintenance activities.

–Installing Linux updates on the Oracle DB hosts, gitlab, and proxies, including adding the updated TLS certificate.

–Migrating DegreeWorks PROD to SSD fast storage.

Also beginning at 9:00 PM this evening, but after the Linux updates are completed, the Banner production environment will be unavailable until early Friday morning while Oracle PSU Quarter 1 updates are deployed to the PROD environment. During this time, ALL Production Banner services will be unavailable.

Computing Services thanks you for your patience and understanding as we perform these critical maintenance activities. As always, if you have any questions, please call the ASU Computing Services Helpdesk at 7741 or contact us via email at computingservices@adams.edu.

Have a great day,

Computing Services
