Issue with home and shared directories and CS Maintenance for Thursday, October 30th, 2014

This morning at approximately 10:30, there was a hard drive failure on our campus home and shared directory storage system. During this time, many customers may have lost connection to their home and shared directories. As of roughly 10:55, all services have been restored. If you are unable to connect to your home (x) or shared (s) drives, please reboot your computer. If you still have issues connecting, please call the helpdesk at x7741.

The following maintenance activities will take place tonight, Thursday October 30:

Employee and Tec Classrooms will receive an update to Java 7 update 71 beginning at 9:00 PM. Users are encouraged to log off but leave their computers on when leaving work today. This will assist the installation of this patch and minimize any user impact.

Beginning at 9:00 PM and lasting roughly 2 hours, ALL Banner services will be down as we install an update to the Student module. Forms, Self-Service Banner, Banner printing and all other Banner services will be unavailable during this time. Also at 9:00 PM, various updates will be installed on Banner middle-tier servers.

At 9:30 PM, we will be updating the campus storage cluster which will result in a brief outage to campus home and shared directory services.

Finally, beginning at 9:00, there will be very short outages to our employee email server as we make a configuration change. This only affects those users who have not yet migrated to Gmail.

Computing Services thanks you for your patience and understanding as we perform these critical maintenance activities. As always, if you have any questions, please call the ASU Computing Services Helpdesk at 7741 or contact us via email at computingservices@adams.edu

Thank you!
