The Grizzlies headed north this weekend for an extremely long road trip to Spearfish, S.D. and Chadron, Neb. for a two game weekend to finish up their games against the East division schools.
The Grizzlies are no strangers to being on the road and playing on the road, so this weekend was like many other weekends for them. They were not only ready to play, but were also ready for some bonding time and a team trip to the National Monument, Mt. Rushmore. This weekend was a fun packed weekend for the Grizzlies and they were prepared to take on two more games.
Thursday night, the Grizzlies went head to head with the Black Hills University Yellow Jackets in Spearfish, S.D. BHSU just became a part of the RMAC conference this past season, so the Grizzlies went into Thursday night’s game not quite knowing what to expect but were determined to get another win against them and that is what they did.
The Grizzlies defeated BHSU in a four set victory (25-20, 28-26, 21-25, 25-22). This win against BHSU helped the Grizzlies to improve to 16-4 overall and 9-3 in the RMAC helping them to increase their West Division lead to a match and a half over Colorado Mesa.
The Yellow Jackets are now 6-14 overall and 1-10 in conference. The Grizzlies received 14 kills from both senior outside hitter Dominique Davis and freshman Lindsey Stindt, who matched her career high hitting a .571. Junior middle hitter Megan Tapia had 12 kills and a .579 percentage. Junior right side hitter Letisha Spencer also had 12 kills and hit a .391. Junior Gabriella Rifilato had 55 assists and senior libero had 14 digs.
The Grizzlies are in action again this coming weekend, taking on Fort Lewis on Friday and Colorado Mesa on Saturday.
