Athlete of the Week: September 23

Adams State College freshman goalkeeper for the women’s soccer team Hannah Kohlts, has been named as the ASCGrizzlies.com/Paw Print Athlete of the Week for week ending on Sept. 19.
Kohlts saw her first action of the weekend late in the Grizzlies’ Friday match with No. 3-ranked Metro State. She entered with the Grizzlies trailing 2-0, and kept the score close by making five saves in little more than 18 minutes of action. On Sunday, Kohlts was the starter in the net for the Grizzlies against Colorado Christian. After an early goal that gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead, Kohlts didn’t let another ball by en route to a 2-1 Adams State victory, their first RMAC victory of the season. Among Kohlts’ five saves in Sunday’s match was a leaping deflection on a Cougars free kick at the 81:13 mark, preserving the Grizzlies 2-1 advantage.
The ASCGrizzlies.com/Paw Print Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an online poll.
Kohlts ran away with the honor as she got four first place votes out of the administrators and media members and won the online vote as she nabbed 45 percent of the 180 votes that were cast online. Football’s Rocco DeLorenzo finished in second place overall but Kyra Garrison of the women’s golf program got second on the online voting. Other candidates included Chris Roggow of the men’s soccer team and Dominque Davis of the volleyball team.
