Men’s Track and Field Senior
Adams State senior men’s track and field athlete Drew Graham (New Castle, England) has been named the ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 12.
Graham was announced this week’s Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week following his performance this past weekend. On Saturday, Feb. 11, Graham ran an automatic qualifying time and took the lead in DII in the mile at the University of Washington Husky Classic. Graham was the only Grizzly in the invitational heat of the mile, where he finished ninth. He also posted a provisional time in the 800 meter run, with a time of 1:53.94.
The ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award, which is handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators, as well as by visitors to ASCGrizzlies.com who cast their votes in the on-line fan poll.
Graham received one first place vote from a media member and was picked second by the rest of the media members. He won the on-line fan poll with 46.9 percent of the votes cast. Senior women’s track and field athlete Cassie Mitchell (Tustin, Calif.) was picked first by three media members though she came in last in the fan poll with 8.2 percent of the votes.
Other nominees for the award included senior wrestler Luke McPeek (Albuquerque, N.M.), senior men’s basketball player Jamiko Verner (Denver, Colo.), and sophomore women’s basketball player Marissa Peterson (Santa Fe, N.M.).
