ASC senior track and field athlete Drew Graham has been named as the ASCGrizzlies.com and Paw Print Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 10, 2011.
Graham recorded a national-leading and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:45.99 to place ninth in the Premier section of the 1,500 meters at the Sun Angel Track Classic in Tempe, Ariz. this past weekend.
The ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an online poll. This week Grizzly fans that follow the Grizzlies on Facebook were also able to vote and their votes were counted with the online poll numbers.
Graham, who received five of the first place votes among media and administrator members, only received 18.3 percent of the 71 votes that were cast online. Sophomore softball player Katelyn Lovato received one of the media member and administrator votes, however, she received the most votes from the fans online by nabbing 26.8 percent of the votes.
Other nominees included Desi Rae Aguirre of the women’s lacrosse program, Kevin Bertrand of the men’s lacrosse program and Indira Spence of the women’s track and field team.
