Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, April 28th, 2011

The following maintenance activity will take place beginning at 9 PM during our normally scheduled maintenance window:

  • A UPS Battery Backup unit will be replaced in our server room. This will affect the Campus OneCard system, which will experience a brief outage of 15-30 minutes.

Computing Services Maintenance Activities for Thursday, April 7th, 2011

The following maintenance activities will take place during our normally scheduled maintenance window beginning at 9 PM:

  • On-campus residential hall Internet access will experience a brief outage of roughly 30 minutes as we transition to new DHCP servers.
  • The campus LDAP server will experience a brief outage of roughly 15 minutes as a security update is installed.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, March 31, 2011

The following maintenance activities will take place beginning at 9 PM during our regularly scheduled maintenance window:

  • A new UPS battery backup system will be installed. The Microsoft print server and file server may experience brief outages lasting less than 15 minutes. During this time, network printing and home/shared directories will be temporarily unavailable.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, March 17th, 2011

The following maintenance activities will take place during our weekly scheduled maintenance time.

  • The migration to the new  DHCP servers for the remainder of campus will take place after 9 PM with no downtime anticipated.
  • The following list of web servers and services will be rebooted after 9 PM to install security patches: Portal, blogs, HowToWiki, and Bricolage. There will be brief downtime during the reboot period anticipated at 15 minutes or less.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, February 24th, 2011

The following maintenance activities will take place beginning at 9 PM during our normally scheduled maintenance window:

  • All Employee computers will receive an update to prepare for the upcoming transition to Banner logins over https. Employees are urged to leave their computers on but log off before leaving work for the day.
  • All Banner services including Banner web will be down for approximately 4 hours beginning at 9 PM for maintenance and security updates.
  • LDAP and the Bricolage content management systems will be rebooted around 9 PM following security patch installation.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The following maintenance activities will take place beginning at 9 PM:

  • The old student web-page/club page hosting server will be taken out of production tonight at 9 PM, no impact is anticipated.
  • Employee Windows PCs will receive an installation that will close a security hole with the local administrative password. There is not anticipated impact for end users.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, February 10th, 2011

The following maintenance activities will take place during our regularly scheduled maintenance hours beginning at 9 PM:

  • Email system clean-up will take place at 9 PM to remove inactive Employee email accounts. No outage is anticipated.
  • The Banner system will be town for roughly 2 hours for a software upgrade beginning at 9 PM.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, January 27, 2011

The following maintenance activities will take place during our normally scheduled maintenance period:

  • All employee, lab and TEC classroom computers will receive critical Windows and Office security updates beginning at 9 PM. All employees are encouraged to leave their computers on when they leave work.
  • Campus web sites and web services including blogs, howto, LDAP, and others will be down briefly as patches are applied to them. Estimated downtime is 1 hour beginning at 9 PM.
  • Modifications to the Banner firewall will take place at 9 PM, however, no noticeable downtime is anticipated.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, January 6th, 2011

The following maintenance activities will take place beginning at 9PM this Thursday:

  • The Banner Web Servers and School services will be unavailable from 9-11PM for security update installation.
  • Due to installation of a new UPS battery backup system as well as errata updates being installed on various systems, intermittent interruption is anticipated for all network services from roughly 9-10PM.

The following maintenance activities will take place beginning at 9 PM on 12/2:

  • Various Windows Servers will receive security updates and will require a reboot. No noticeable downtime is expected.
  • Security patches will be installed on several non-production Banner systems, no impact is expected.
