The award winning Christian rock band Third Day rocked the Union Colony Civic Center in Greeley, Colo. on the night of April 27. This concert was a part of Third Day’s tour promoting their latest album “Miracle.” The band has been traveling on this tour for the course of one month thus far.

The concert opened with the first song off of the album “Miracle” called “Hit Me Like a Bomb.” Over the course of the evening, Third Day played some of their most recent songs as well as some old fan favorites. A sold out crowd remained enthusiastic through the entire evening and called for an encore at the end of the concert. The lead singer and spokesperson for Third Day, Mac Powell gave some inspirational remarks to the crowd during the course of the program. Many in attendance were greatly encouraged.

In addition to great music, the concert held a promotion for the Christian charity group World Vision. This organization enables individuals and families to sponsor a needy child in a foreign country, going towards basic needs such as clean water, food, shelter and in many cases, education for children in impoverished third world communities. The countries that World Vision serves span several continents, including the Philippines, the Congo, India and many more regions. There is also a wide age category range in the children that World Vision serves, ranging from the ages of five to thirteen.

There are opportunities for individuals and families who chose to do a sponsorship to communicate with the child and get to know them over the course of the time the child is under World Visions’ care. In some cases there is even an option to visit the child. When World Vision feels that the community a particular child is living in has become self-sufficient, the child’s sponsor is notified and given the option of a new child to sponsor.

The band offered a special incentive for those who chose a sponsorship for World Vision. This promotion consisted of receiving a free copy of “Miracle,” along with having priority in line to meet the band and have the album signed. The audience was given the opportunity to take advantage of this offer before, during and after the concert. There were many audience members who made the decision to sponsor a World Vision child.

Third Day has been playing on the professional circuit for twenty years. The band was founded by Mark Lee and Mack Powell, and members include lead singer/guitar player Mac Powell, Mark Lee on electric guitar, Tai Anderson on bass, and David Carr on the drums. The band has won multiple GMA (Gospel Music Association) Dove Awards, as well as many others honors including platinum selling records. More importantly, Third Day seeks to lift Christ’s name high through their music. Third Day is originally from Atlanta, Georgia.
