On Tuesday, Jan. 31 Adams State College hosted the grand opening of the new Student Success Center at the Neilson Library. This event was the culmination of several months of construction that was funded by the Title V grant awarded to ASC for being a hispanic serving institution.
The ribbon cutting was performed by Tanya Martin and the opening was celebrated with catering by SUDEXO. Both breakfast and lunch snacks were provided and a variety of drinks including juice, coffee, and tea.
Several friendly faces were on hand to answer questions. Visitors to the center were invited to participate in a survey. Services available through the center will include career counseling and disabilities services. Visitors were able to travel to the many offices to learn about the service provided in each office. It was also a great time to chat with those individuals which provided even more insight into the workings of the Student Success Center. Later that evening a drawing was done for several participants to win a variety of prizes including an ASC water bottle and t-shirts.
The event ended at 1 p.m. but the Student Success Center is open for business. Be sure to ask about their many services and opportunities. The great thing about having this new center is that everything a student needs to progress efficiently and effectively can now be found in one place.
Some of the services were tucked away in a corner and hard to find while some were just completely separated from any other service that might be needed in accompaniment of the one your currently might be attaining. The new set up makes for easier access as well as better customer service.
