ALAMOSA (February 27) – There are still spots available for the Adams State University STEM Saturday session, “Robotics using Arduinos – for Girls,” by George Sellman, assistant professor of computer science. The session is from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 19 and is for grades 6-12; enrollment limited to 12 females. Reservations are required as enrollment is limited.
According to Cindy Bervig, STEM outreach coordinator, the session does not require any special or advanced skills in technology or an extensive knowledge of science. “George Sellman is great with the young students. He makes it easy to understand and simple to follow the instructions to make a robot move.” The students will work with already built robots.
This same session was available last semester. Comments collected from participants included, “I would love to do this again,” “this morning showed me how much fun this could be,” and “I have a new interest I would like to pursue.”
The Adams State Title V Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Programs are free, interactive sessions and will stimulate the imagination and curiosity of students.
Registration is required. Once registered, participants will receive the location of session and any other pertinent information. Only parent/guardian authorized registrations will be accepted. No cost to participants. Each student will receive a t-shirt when they arrive to the session.
