Samsung Electronics plan to release two brand new versions of its latest and newest product – the Galaxy S5. The company plans to show its customers and shareholders that it can still bring unique and innovative products to the market. The senior management team has chosen the month of March as its release with the idea of trying to regain as much of brand loyalty and recognition as possible before the long waited release of their main rival Apple’s iWatch in April this year. The version of Samsung Galaxy S5 will offer a unique phone with a screen that encompasses the front as well as the sides of the smartphone, and will once again take one step ahead of Apple in their colossal battle for the number 1 spot in the worldwide market of smartphones. Samsung Electronics made a similar step in 2012 when the first larger screen smartphone was introduced as the first “phablet” (a combination between a phone and a tablet), and it proved to be largely successful, while Apple failed to have an adequate response for over 2 years. However, the Cupertino based company managed to deliver a sensationally strong product line in Apple’s September 9th event, where the iPhone 6 and the new iPhone 6 + were introduced. With the introduction of iPhone 6+, Apple finally entered the “phablet market” and offered a product that the general public clearly loved. The largest and most successful US company was the dominant player during the holiday shopping this year, reporting the astonishing 70+ million iPhones sold over the last quarter, averaging 34,000 iPhones/hour. While Apple has been enjoying a thriving success throughout the last year, the largest technological company in Asia has been trying to return to the innovative nature of the company’s business in order to revive the declining revenues in the last 3 quarters. Samsung Electronics introduced the Note Edge last year, which was the first phone to offer two screens, but while it originally impressed as an innovation, it has failed to become a primary revenue source for the company.

The new model of the Samsung Galaxy S5’s primary construction material will be metal, will be operating on Samsung’s newest and most reliable microprocessors, and will have a 5.1 inch screen that will be curving to both sides and will enable people to read messages and documents on an angle. The metal hardware will be manufactured by BYD Electronic International, which is part of the Chinese automobile manufacturer BYD, part of which is owned by the investment company of Warren Buffet, Berkshire Hathaway.

Samsung Electronics will host its event on March 1st during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The company used the same event last year to introduce the Galaxy S5, which has failed to follow the success of its predecessors, and through this upgrade and new feature, the company will aim to regain its leadership in the smartphone market.
