The Adams State College Human Performance and Physical Education (HPPE) Department cares about the physical health of the campus and community. Their open house, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in Plachy Hall, will include a variety of demonstrations and information regarding physical health and education. The event is free and open to the public.
Activities will include a VO2 Max demonstration, Wingate anaerobic bicycle test, body composition testing, and fitness age testing.
HPPE Chair Dr. Lea “Beez” Schell said the event is an opportunity to learn about the great resources available to the community as well as students, faculty, and staff. “Often, the perception is the HPPE major is all about athletics. We have challenging required science courses and are preparing our graduates for a variety of career fields including exercise science, sports administration, sports psychology, and K-12 physical education.
Refreshments will be provided and free parking is available in the north and south parking lots adjacent to Plachy Hall. Attendees can access the event through the south doors of Plachy Hall, whereupon faculty members and other assistants will be available to answer questions and discuss the activities.
Later in the semester, Dr. Tracey Robinson, associate professor of HPPE, will open the HPPE Exercise Science lab to the ASC and SLV communities each week for personal fitness testing. For more information on dates and times for the open labs, please contact Dr. Tracey Robinson at tlrobins@adams.edu.
