On Thursday, February 14, 2019, Cheryl D. Lovell transitioned from interim president to the official president of Adams State. The Board of Trustees have formed a negotiating team to begin working on an employment contract for Lovell. Board Chairman Cleave Simpson was the first to propose that the interim title be removed, based on her positive resonance on the Adams State community within her first few months as interim. The Board is proud to have President Lovell in a permanent position because they believe that she will help in moving Adams State in the right direction. President Lovell received support from Faculty Senate and a large amount of members of the campus and community. It was obvious in the first six months of her position as interim that Lovell was a good fit for a permanent position at Adams State in order to continue the school’s mission to provide access and opportunity to all students.
