ALAMOSA (February 10) – Adams State University Professor of Art Eugene Schilling, and Randy Pijoan, adjunct professor of art, will exhibit their work at the first Taos Americaños Concert and Art Exhibit.
An opening reception will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Jail House Gallery, located downstairs in the Historic Taos County Court House, on the Taos Plaza.
Schilling, an artist/educator presently teaching painting and drawing at Adams State, will exhibit an eclectic body of work ranging from abstract expression, constructions, to his most recent works in sarcastic realism. He has exhibited his works both nationally and internationally in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Japan, China, and Brazil.
According to Pijoan, the art show in the Jail House Gallery is a great fit of “funky fun industrial space meets contemporary art.” He said: “The goal is to show the range of that artist showing in that space, meaning sometimes an artist just shows what the public and dealers expects of them. Rather these Taos Americaños ‘curations’ focus on not just that work but specifically the pieces the artist has yet to show the public.”
The art show is sponsored by the Taos Solar Music Festival “Taos Americaños.” The concert will feature Max Gomez with Jim Lauderdale at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, in the Historic Taos County Court House, located on the Taos Plaza. Seating is limited and tickets for the concert are $25. Tickets are available at Taos Mountain Outfitters and The Good Sole.
