Since the world is moving at a much faster pace today, the education system has had to adapt as well. The intersession program is a new program at Adams state college. The new program offers accelerated online courses from general education courses to courses specific for your major. These classes are at your own pace and on your own time. this program gives people an opportunity to re-take classes, get through classes quicker, graduate early, or just take classes to get credit. This program “gives sutdents more opportunity to ttake classes at a more rapid pace,” says Dr. Grantham.
The intersession courses are offered at three different times in the yar. the spring semester is from May 1 to June 30, the fall semester is from August 1 to September 30, and the winter semester is from December 1 to January 31. These are one to eight week courses and are guaranteed to transfer from one to four traditional semester credit hours. There are no admissionis requirements; all you have to do is pick classes, fill out general information, and pay. Another fabulous aspect of this program is the cost is the same for in-state and out-of-state students. The prices for the intersession courses “are comparable to traditional on campus courses,” says Dr. Grantham. The courses are paid by class not by credit like summer classes.
Online courses can sound scary, but these programs are designed for students to succeed. The students will be in contact with the professors whenever needed. With the acceleration of the course, there is no time for the students or the professor not to take their time answering questions.
