It’s spring in the Valley, and with summer just around the corner it’s a great time to get in shape, so why not take up one of the many classes Adams State Rex Center has to offer?
The Rex has been busy lately, everything from really fun classes going on to intramurals in full swing. Now is the time to get active, and guess what? It’s free to all Adams State students and staff.
Classes offered at the Rex include yoga, aerobics, self defense and the very popular Zumba Class.
Yoga is a great way to get rid of stress, relax, and help you breathe. It’s great for flexibility and toning. It’s offered several times throughout the week at different times, so that way you can find time to work it into your busy schedule.
Aerobics is an hour long and it’s a real sweat breaker. It’s a very fun class that will keep you moving and feeling great. It mixes everything from steppers to abs and even kickboxing.
Self-defense is offered on Mondays and Wednesdays. It’s a new program that just got started. It promises to be both educational and good for you.
Zumba is praised by lots of students and staff. Oneida Mestas is the instructor of this popular program. It’s a dance aerobics class that mixes Latin and hip hop. “I’m truly addicted to this class, it’s so much fun,” said one participant. Zumba is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.
Intramurals are already active and getting ready to start with all-new spring sports after spring break.
Spring sports include 3 on 3 volleyball, water polo, flag football, and many more. It’s a great to work with fellow students as a team and stay active. It’s always great for the competitive crowd.
You can sign up for spring intramurals online at imleagues.com or stop by the Rex and talk to Elvie Conley or Robert Thompson to learn more. The final day to register for spring sports is Friday March 11, 2011.
