ALAMOSA (March 31) –”Empowering People Through Food,” is a collaboration between the San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition and the Adams State AmeriCorps Program. The Adams State University Faculty Lecture, by Karen Lemke, director of the college readiness programs, begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in Porter Hall 130.
“Empowering People Through Food” represents an interdisciplinary approach to understanding economics, education, nutrition, hunger/food security, environmental impact, poverty, love of food, and love of community
This presentation will overview the EPTF events which took place this academic year and is part of La Puente’s Hunger Education week programming, which also includes a film, “A Place at the Table,” at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Milagros, followed by an opening reception for the photo essay installation, depicting hunger in the San Luis Valley.
