Athlete of the Week- October 14

Adams State College junior running back Terjean Saffold has been named as the ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week for week ending on October 10. Saffold is this year’s first athlete to win the honor multiple times and has won it for the second week in a row.
Saffold recorded his second straight and third 100-yard rushing game of the season as he scored four touchdowns to lead the Grizzlies to a 55-0 homecoming win over New Mexico Highlands.
Saffold, who had more than 100 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, last week at Nebraska-Kearney, needed just 17 carries to rack up 113 rushing yards, good for a 6.6 per carry average.
He scored on runs of 1, 5 and 16 yards in the first half and then added a 17-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter before checking out.
Saffold has now scored six touchdowns in the last two games alone and leads the Grizzlies with seven scores.
The ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an online poll.
Saffold ran away with the honor as he nabbed all but one of the first place votes by media members and administrators. AJ Palmer of the volleyball team was the only other nominee with a first place vote.
Other nominees this week were Samantha Hall of the women’s golf team, Janelle Higgs of the women’s swim team, Josesph Jallow of the men’s soccer team, Kaylee Smith of the women’s soccer team, and Cody Robson of the men’s swimming team.
