Athlete of the Week: November 17

Adams State junior quarterback Marc Amos (Lakewood, Colo.) has been named the ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 6-13.
Amos, who made his first career start on Saturday, led the Grizzlies a 49-10 victory over Western State in the annual Colorado Classic rivalry game.
The win was the Grizzlies’ 10th straight in the series, and gave ASC a 6-5 record for its first winning season since 2006. Amos ran for two touchdowns and passed for another in the second quarter to give the Grizzlies a 28-10 lead at halftime, which they would continue to expand with the help of another Amos TD pass in the second half. Amos finished the day 14-of-23 passing for 218 yards, and added another 70 yards on 13 rush attempts.
The Grizzlies outgained the Mountaineers 467-154, raising its season total to 4,248 yards, the second most in a season for the Grizzlies in the program’s Division II-era history (1992-present). Amos’ performance also garnered him RMAC/Rawlings Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.
Amos was ranked first on the ballots of all but one media member, and finished third in the ASCGrizzlies.com Fan Poll. Senior wrestler Luke McPeek (Albuquerque, N.M.), who won the 197-pound Elite bracket at the Cowboy Open in Laramie, Wyo., on Saturday won the on-line fan poll with 40.5 percent of the votes.
Other nominees for this week’s ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week included senior women’s basketball player Chloe Cable (Glendale, Ariz.) and junior volleyball Dominique Davis (Denver, Colo.)
