Athlete of the Week: March 24

Adams State junior infielder Rebecca Lindquist has been named as the ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award for the week ending March 20.
Lindquist slugged .757 and hit .409 (9-for-22) with four doubles and a home run. She led the team with six runs batted in and had an on-base percentage of .409. On the running paths, Lindquist was 1-for-2 on stolen base att empts for her first of the season.  Defensively, she had 12 putouts and 19 assists. She leads the Conference in doubles with 15, one away from tying ASC’s season record for doubles and now has 32 doubles in her career, 10 away from ASC’s career record.
The ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an online poll.
Lindquist won the online poll by winning 36.6 percent of the 41 votes that were cast online. She also won 4 of the media members and athletic adminstrator’s votes while Kendra Coveal finished in second with 29.6 percent of the votes. She also nabbed four first place votes. Other nominees for the award this week were junior varsity softball player Melinda Velasquez, Kendall Martin of the women’s golf team, Chris Cunningham of the men’s lacrosse team and Amanda Hisel of the women’s lacrosse team.
Men’s basketball player Marquis Richards and Indira Spence won the past two weeks.
