Athlete of the Week for April 14: Katelyn Lovato

Adams State College freshman Katelyn Lovato was named as the April 15 ASC Grizzlies.com and Paw Print athlete of
the week. Lovato hit a solid .500 (6-for-12) in Adams State’s 4-game series against Western New Mexico, as she broke  dams State’s consecutive game hitting streak record in available history (1998-Present). Lovato, who now has a hit in  very one of the Grizzlies’ 23 games this year, broke the former record of 19 straight games set last season by now  tudent assistant coach Shannon Galanek, when she went 2- for-3 with an RBI single in Game 1 of the series on  Saturday.  She also later registered a triple in Game 2 of the set and went and added a double during a combined 3-for- effort in Sunday’s doubleheader. Lovato, who also walked once during the weekend, recorded a .538 on-base-percentage and a .750 slugging percentage during the weekend and continues to lead the RMAC with her .511 batting average.

The ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an  nline poll. A new poll will be posted each Sunday night after all of the Grizzly teams have concluded their competition  or the weekend. The votes will be tabulated each Wednesday, when the Athlete of the Week will be announced.
