Adams State Set to Put on Upcoming Concerts

The Adams State University Concert and Chamber Choirs will be presenting a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, in the Sacred Heart Church, located in Alamosa, Colo.  They will be joined by the San Luis Valley Children’s Chorus, 68 West and the 2014 Adams State High School Honor Choirs.

The concert will include spirituals by Moses Hogan and Paul Caldwell & Sean Ivory, and other pieces by Billie Holiday, Stephen Stills (Crosby, Stills and Nash), Eric Whitacre and Rosephanye Powell. Also featured will be excerpts from Dr. King’s speeches and sermons.

The 2014 Adams State Top of the Nation Honor Choirs will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 in the Sacred Heart Church. The Mixed Choir will be conducted by Dr. Mariana Farah, associate director of choral activities at the University of Kansas, and the Women’s Choir will be conducted by Dr. Beth Robison, Adams State choir director.
