Adams State Hosts ACT Academy

ALAMOSA (March 24) –Adams State University hosted an ACT Academy for high school juniors, on March 18. According to Karen Lemke, director of the College Readiness Programs, 13 schools and over 300 students participated.
Kaitlynn Wright, Alamosa High School, said the ACT Academy helped prepare her with testing tips and strategies.
This is the second year of the event, planned by Adams State and BOCES. Many departments across campus, school guidance counselors and principals participated in the academy.
“I think we improved on last year’s design,” Lemke said. Attendance for the academy nearly tripled from last year. “The evaluation forms are very positive, and the students seemed to be very engaged and even thanked the faculty at the end of sessions.”
Adams State and BOCES will examine the students’ pre-test scores and compare them to their actual ACT scores to see if the academy made a positive impact and to what degree.
