COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO, (OCTOBER 19, 2013)
THE MARTINI SHOT is a cover and original six-piece Pop-Rock Band based out of Southern Colorado. The name, “Martini Shot,” refers to the Hollywood slang term for the last shoot of the day. Most of the members of this band are local music teachers.
The Martini Shot has released three original projects including their first self-titled album, “The Martini Shot,” their sophomore album “Dry & Dirty,” and the latest album, “Shakin’ and Stirred.” The Martini Shot performs nearly every weekend throughout the year and was voted the “2013 Best Cover Band” by Readers of the Colorado Springs Independent and the “2013 Best Band of Pueblo” by readers of the Pueblo Chieftain. They are staples at local clubs, festivals, and event series. The Martini Shot is also in high demand for weddings and private events.
Even though the band technically started in 2000 at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, the Martini Shot has kept the same 6 members for 10 years on Saturday, October 19. The members of the band include: Andy Clementi (lead vocals), Ryan Walter (lead guitar), Brook Mead (bass), Greg Trujillo (drums), Rob Smith (saxophone), and Brian Person (trumpet).“This is not only a celebration of the band, but a free concert to say thanks to our fans, family, and friends that have made it possible for us to make music over the past decade,” says front man Andy Clementi. The band has also invited former members to be featured throughout the performance.
A majority of the band are currently music teachers or have been teachers throughout the band’s existence. Andy Clementi (lead singer) is the Director of Choirs at East High in Pueblo; Brook Mead (bass) is the Director of Choirs at Centennial High School in Pueblo; Rob Smith (saxophone) is the Director of Bands at Roncalli Middle School in Pueblo; Brian Person (trumpet) is the former Director of Bands at Manitou Springs High School and Middle School in Manitou Springs. “All of us believe strongly in Music Education in our schools. Whenever possible we have tried to use the band as a vehicle to support music education,” says Person. The Martini Shot will feature a couple of former students during the show.
The celebration concert will take place at Stargazers Theatre in Colorado Springs on October 19, 2013 and is a free event open to the community. Doors open at 7:00pm and the concert will begin at 8pm.
