Women’s Week is an annual week-long event held at ASU to celebrate, educate, and connect.
Brief History of Women’s Week
Women’s week was established by Adams State student P.V. (Tori) Martinez and Dr. Stephanie Hilwig in 2014 and with the help and support of Dr. Beez Shell and Dr. Carol Guerrero-Murphy. The event was a multi-departmental cooperation to celebrate, educate, and connect the women on campus and in the San Luis Valley community. Women’s Week was so well-received that we decided to make it an annual event!
A committee has been established to help Women’s Week thrive in the years to come. If you would like to join this committee, contact us to let us know!

- BANNER CONTEST: We had a contest during the fall semester, for the best design to be used as our second annual Women’s Week banner. We received 17 entries. A big “thank you” to everyone who entered; it was not easy to choose a winner. The criteria was that the banner design had to portray this year’s theme of “We Have A Voice.” A scholarship of $300 for ASU’s spring semester will be awarded to the winner, Tessie Pikula.
