Athlete of the Week: September 29

Adams State College sophomore volleyball player Megan Tapia (Pueblo, Colo.) has been named as the ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sept. 25.
Tapia recorded eight kills, two aces and a solo block against Colorado Mesa University on Friday, Sept. 23. She made just one error in 11 chances against CMU. Against Fort Lewis College on Saturday, Sept. 24, Tapia chronicled a match-high 11 kills and also had six digs. She recorded only two errors in 25 chances against FLC. Tapia ended the weekend with a total of 19 kills and only three errors in 36 chances.  The Grizzlies won in straight sets against both RMAC West Division rivals, improving to 3-2 in RMAC play and 2-0 in RMAC West Division play.
The ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an online poll.
Media members and administrators all voted Tapia within the top three athletes, and Tapia collected three first place votes. She also came in second place in online voting, receiving 24.7 percent of the votes.
Women’s soccer player Christie Stemple, men’s soccer player Andrew Hinkle, football player Jake Long, women’s cross country runner Sarah Lange, men’s cross country runner Jordan Patterson, and men’s golfer John Atencio were this week’s other nominees.
