Athlete of the Week: March 8

Adams State freshman women’s lacrosse player Danica Kristiansen (Lake Forest, Calif.) has been named the ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week for the week ending on March 5.
Kristiansen faced 40 shots on goal and made 24 saves on Saturday, March 3 against Colorado Mesa University. Her 24 saves set a new ASC single-game record, beating the previous mark by eight saves. Kristiansen was also named the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (WILA) Women’s Defensive Player of the Week. Saturday’s game marked the Grizzlies first WILA action, where they fell to the Mavericks 9-16. ASC now holds a 0-1 record overall and in league play.
The ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award, which is handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators, as well as by visitors to ASCGrizzlies.com who cast their votes in the on-line fan poll.
Kristiansen received second place votes from all but one media member. She also pulled in 67.6 percent of the on-line fan votes.
Other nominees for the award included junior men’s basketball player Kaimyn Pruitt (Los Angeles, Calif.) and senior women’s softball player Rebecca Lindquist (Fort Collins, Colo.).
