ASU Percussion Presents James Doyle

ASU Assistant Professor of Music James Doyle will perform in his Faculty Percussion Recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, in Leon Memorial Hall.

The recital will include works by Kyle Gann, David Hollinden, Kakraba Lobi/Valerie Naranjo, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Steven Stucky, Nigel Westlake, and B. Michael Williams.
Doyle teaches courses in percussion, music business, improvisation, and directs the jazz ensembles, steel bands, Grizzly Drum Line, and percussion ensemble. He earned degrees from the University of Central Missouri and Louisiana State University, and went on to serve as principal percussionist with the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West.

He currently performs regularly with the San Juan Symphony, The Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra, The Animas Music Festival, the Doyle/Kane Duo for flute and percussion, the Celtic group, Tripping Upstairs, several regional pop/jazz/folk artists and is an active recording artist in studios in Colorado and New Mexico. Doyle has performed throughout North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, and his performances have appeared on PBS, CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS as well as numerous NPR broadcasts.
