Women’s Golf in Sixth Place at RMAC Championships

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz.— Freshmen Rachel Reiling (Littleton, Colo.) and Rachel Dyess (Richmond, Texas) are both in the top 20 after posting an 85 and 86, respectively, in the first round of the 2012 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, played Monday here at the Wigwam Golf Resort’s Red Course.
Reiling is in a tie for 14th place while Dyess is in a tie for 18th.
As a team, the Grizzlies are in sixth place in the team standings at 351.
Two other Grizzlies — Kyra Garrison (Farmington, N.M.) and Maressa McClintock (Greenwood Village, Colo.) —are tied for 27th after posting 90’s. Meanwhile, Taelor Mullins (Monte Vista, Colo.) is in 31st place after carding a 93.
Colorado State University-Pueblo’s Dominique Dinallo leads the 40-player field by three shots after posting a 75 on the 6,200-yard, par-72 course. Western New Mexico’s Faylyn Beyale, the 2010-11 RMAC Golfer of the Year, is in second at 78 while her teammate Haley Raymond is third at 79.
Using that pair of top 3 positions, the Mustangs have the inside track to repeating upon last year’s RMAC Tournament Championship with a score of 325. Colorado State-Pueblo is second at 330 while Regis, the team behind the Grizzlies in the current NCAA Division II Central Regional rankings, is third at 332 while Colorado Mesa is fourth at 334.
Nebraska-Kearney is fifth at 350 while Colorado Christian (367) and Chadron State (391) are behind the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies and the other seven teams will play their second and final round on Tuesday morning. Tee times begin at 6:45 a.m. (AZT).
