The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) insists on Russia to fulfill its international duties and obligations and to move its troops off the Russian-Ukrainian border.
The current Secretary General of NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, officially stated that after meeting the Ukrainian premier, Arsenij Jaceniuk, this past Thursday he is completely assured in the fact that Ukraine is giving its best effort for the peaceful resolution of the conflict.
As a continuation of his public statement, Rasmussen demanded from Russia to remove its military forces and to stop intervening in other geographical and political areas of Ukraine.
The main argument for that was the fact that in the 21st century no one should be trying to reorder or reposition the European map, and that NATO is ready to completely support Ukraine in all ways necessary. Germany’s chancellor, Angela Merkel, and Turkey’s Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, have also agreed on the incredible importance of keeping Ukraine’s sovereignty as well as their territorial and political unity. Both of these country leaders’ are ready to protect Ukraine’s interests in this conflict at any costs.
Merkel and Erdoğan share the opinion that the risk of confrontation in Crimea must be eliminated and that they already planned referendum on March 16th, for Crimea’s joining of Russia is really suspicious and illegal.
Germany and Turkey are well aware of the importance in the fulfillment of each of the countries’ involved in the conflict, international obligations, and duties and that an international contact group should be established. This group’s primary activity will be to investigate the violent events that have been occurring throughout the recent weeks. This is one of the major international conflicts and problems in the world today. Its further development will be of a significant importance for numerous, economic, political, and geographical reasons.
Our team will be closely examining the situation, trying to provide you guys with the most relevant and adequate information.
