COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The ASC men’s lacrosse team met up with the Colorado State club squad at Garry Berry Stadium for a neutral site match-up Saturday afternoon, where freshman goalie Ronnie Fernando made 13 saves as Adams State fell, 3-9.
Colorado State scored three goals in the first, second and fourth quarters, spreading its offense all across the field as Kacy Carter was the only player to score two goals while seven others each found the net once.
After scoring six goals in an exhibition contest last Sunday, ASC junior Kevin Bertrand (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) tallied two more Saturday, including one with 8:45 left in the third that brought the score to 3-6.
Freshman Parker Smith (Centennial, Colo.) scored the Grizzlies other goal.
Fernando faced 36 shots in the game, and stopped 13 of the 22 that were on target and kept the Rams off the board for a stretch of over 20 minutes including the entire third period.
Next Saturday the Grizzlies open their regular season in Grand Junction, Colo., to take on Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association foe Colorado Mesa at 1 p.m.
