Severe symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain are all signs of gastrointestinal illness, and anyone experiencing these symptoms in the regional should seek medical advice. Officials say the best way to combat gastrointestinal illness is to practice general health etiquette. Washing your hands and staying hydrated will help prevent infections and illnesses.
In Regional news, Recreational marijuana sales rose in Colorado in the second month of retail sale according to state tax estimates released on Tuesday.
The Colorado Department of Revenue estimated that the state of Colorado made $4.1 million in February from the sale of recreational marijuana, which is a rise from January’s $3.5 million. Organizers of Denver’s 4/20 festival are trying to go mainstream and capitalize on the revenue being brought in by recreational marijuana. The festival will be the first in Colorado since the legalization of recreational marijuana.
In National news, the most decorated Olympian, Michael Phelps, Is coming out of retirement and will be competing in Arizona. Phelps, who is 29 In June, has already competed in four Olympic Games, tallying up a total of 22 medals, 18 of which are gold.
The Associated Press (AP) quoted his coach, Bob Bowman, saying that Phelps is entering three events. The 50 and 100 meter freestyle and the 100 meter butterfly.
In International news, the EU and the US say they will implement further sanctions on Russia. A deadline set by Ukraine to Russia protesters ordering them leave or face military action has not been met. The unrest in Ukraine is rising as a Russian fighter jet flew past a US warship in the Black Sea on Monday.
Also, Pro-Russian activists and hundreds of supports attacked another official building in eastern Ukraine. Ukraine has asked the UN for peace keeping troops to be sent as the militants haven’t met the deadline.
Although large amounts of Europe get their natural gas from Russia, a call to boycott the supply is likely going to happen.
Russian President Mr. Putin has stated that he has not ordered the rioting in Ukraine, however, Ukraine’s foreign minister said they have proof the order came from Russia.
Ukraine authorities have stated they will dislodge the protestors and regain control.
