ALAMOSA (September 9) – Thirty-five years ago, Ed Wiseman was attacked by the last Colorado Grizzly Bear. On the anniversary of the attack, the Adams State University Nielsen Library will host author Deb Carpenter-Nolting, “Grizzly Attack in Colorado,” and Wiseman. The talk will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, in the Nielsen Library second floor lounge, followed by a book signing. The event is free and pizza and beverages will be provided.
An excerpt from the book: “On September 23, 1979, Ed Wiseman was attacked by a grizzly bear in a remote area of Colorado. He tried curling up and playing dead, but when that did not deter the bear, he stabbed it with a hand-held arrow, mortally wounding it.” His story does not end there.
