ALAMOSA, CO. (April 8, 2014) . . . Adams State University invites community members to celebrate Earth Week, April 14-19, through a number of campus events. Earth Week activities are coordinated by Adams State’s sustainability group, EARTH (Environmental Action for Resources, Transportation, Health).

Sunday April 13
Pre-register with Adams State Adventure Programs (ASAP) by April 9 at 6 p.m. Details available by calling 719-587-7813.

Monday April 14
Rio Grande Cleanup
4-5:30 p.m., meet at 4 p.m. in front of the ASU Track Bubble on Sunset Dr.

Wednesday April 16
Sustainability Booths
11a.m. to 2 p.m., Student Union Building, First St.
Mats for Veterans – learn to make mats out of recycled grocery bags
Upcycling Booth – learn to make useful items out of pallets
Bike to Campus Day – stop by on your bike and win a prize!
ASU Recycles Mural Contest – one talented artist will have their work displayed on campus.
I Commit to Sustainability – a challenge hosted by Sodexo Foods
Green Home Design – learn to build a sustainable home
Wilderness Act 50th Anniversary – info on the Wilderness Act

Thursday April 17
Keynote Lecture: “Declining Habitat of the Rio Grande,”
By Rick Snaderbeck and Corey Kanuckel, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
7 p.m., Porter Hall 130, refreshments at 6:30pm

Saturday, April 19
Reduce and Reuse Garage Sale
7 a.m. to Noon, Student Union Building
Drop off items at the garage sale
Support EARTH by donating or buying
Campus Garden Work Day
Meet at 9 a.m. at the corner of West and First Street, East Campus (formerly Evans School)
Bring wheelbarrows and shovels
