Adams State freshman designated player on the softball team Jennie Archambault has been named as the ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award for the week ending Mar. 27.
Archambault hit .786 (11-14) with four extra base hits (one homer), five RBI and four runs scored in 4-game sweep of Mesa State. She had a 1.286 slugging percentage and the game-winning RBI in Saturday’s 6-5 Game 1 win. On Sunday, Archambault was a perfect 8-for-8 at the plate including five hits in the second game, which now leads the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for hits in a game.
The ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an online poll. This week Grizzly fans that follow the Grizzlies on Facebook were also able to vote and their votes were counted with the online poll numbers.
Archambault won the online poll by nabbing 40.5 percent of the 126 votes cast between ASCGrizzlies.com and on Facebook. She also nabbed five of the nine administrators and media members’ votes.
Track and field athlete KayMarie Jones finished in second as she nabbed two first place votes while track and field athlete Dyson Mortenson finished nabbed one first place vote to finish in third place.
Other nominees were men’s lacrosse athlete Kevin Bertrand, women’s golfer Kelsey McSpadden, men’s golfer John Gorell and women’s lacrosse athlete Amanda Bushman.
