ALAMOSA (September 30) – This year in lieu of a formal homecoming jazz concert the Adams State University Music Department is celebrating one year of jazz improvisation community outreach at the SLV Brewery. The performance will begin at around 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10. The performance consists of a core group of performers: Ben Paden, drums/piano/vibes; Josh Stevens, bass; Cody Fricke, piano/percussion; Hannah Sabil Liechty, baritone sax; Bryce White, trombone; John Colson, trumpet; Logan Hjelmstad, piano; and Joseph Armetta, ASU Jazz Ensemble director on guitar. “This is an open jam,” Armetta said. “We invite other students and community members to come and sit in and play.” The tunes played will vary. Performers have an option to “call” any tune they wish to play with the group. “This makes for a very lively and exciting on your toes environment,” Armetta added.
