Countries represented included the United States, Mexico, Scotland, and New Zealand. Approximately 180 people from Adams State, community members, and visitors attended this year’s festival, purchasing nearly 300 tickets between the seven programs shown.
Highlights this year included: the opening night screening of the documentary “American Bear” with filmmakers Sarah Sellman and Greg Grano, the documentary “120 Days” followed by a Q&A featuring filmmaker Ted Roach and representatives of the SLV Immigrant Resource Center, the ASU Student Showcase (with additional films from Urban Oasis Academy, Crestone Charter School, and Western State Colorado University), and a Local Food and Culture program with a panel of featured filmmakers and community members involved in the local foods movement.
Several awards were given, including the Best of ASU Student Showcase (to nine Adams State students for various student films), the Valley Voices Award (to the late Phil Lucero for “Hilos Culturales”) and the Best of Colorado Award (to Danny Ledonne for “Illuminate the Valley”).
