Letter From Doodads

Have you ever thought about changing the world? Have you ever wanted to do something worthwhile? Well you don’t have to discover a cure for cancer or save people from a burning building to do it. It’s the small opportunities given to you every day that can make the most difference. You just have to take a chance and stick yourself out there. The majority of our population is too wrapped up in their own lives to see what happens around them. They turn a blind eye to the people calling out for help and make themselves feel better by thinking someone else will be kind enough to stop and fix it.
Most of the time no one is there; no one wants to be there or have the responsibility of being there for someone else, stranger or not.
The kids who end up committing suicide or bringing weapons to school are just people that have gotten hurt and were left to tend to their own scars. Nobody helped them stand up to the bully or let them know they are loved too. They get harassed at school and/or home; their hearts get broken and they shed tears just like the rest of us. Why not stick up for your fellow classmate, community member, or just a stranger you happen to notice?
There should be no fear in helping others. You may not realize it, but giving a smile, a greeting, or even a hug can turn someone’s bad day completely around. Seek out those opportunities, even if you don’t get a reaction. Help someone struggling in a class you perform well in. Get to know someone outside your social circle or open doors for a stranger.

All the small things you do have a ripple effect that we like to call a “good deed seed” and these seeds grow and spread very fast. If you help someone and they help someone and so forth, the world would be a better place. If you would like to know more about similar concepts I would recommend that you watch the movie “Pay It Forward”. It will definitely get you thinking about the differences you can make.
Inch by inch, day by day, people’s lives will gradually improve. All it takes is a smile, a hug, or a good old fashioned “hello.” Go make a difference today and see what happens.
