LAKEWOOD, Colo.— Freshmen Rachel Dyess (Richmond, Texas) and Rachel Reiling (Littleton, Colo.) led the Adams State College women’s golf team to a team score of 337 and a middle-of -the pack positioning at the Regis University Invitational, played Monday here at Fox Hollow Golf Course.
The Grizzlies and nine other teams were slated to play a second 18-hole round on Tuesday, beginning at 8:15 a.m., although that effort was wiped out by overnight and morning snowfall in the metropolitan Denver area and thus shortened the tournament to 18 holes.
Dyess posted her third straight round of 82 and finished the affair in a tie for 10th place amongst the 56 golfers in the field. Dyess now has three top-10 finishes this season as does Reiling. Meanwhile, Reiling carded an 83 and finished as part of a 12th place tie.
Meanwhile, sophomore Kyra Garrison (Farmington, N.M.) and freshman Maressa McClintock (Greenwood Village, Colo.) and each posted 86’s to tie for 25th. Freshman Taelor Mullins (Monte Vista, Colo.) posted 94 and tied for 41st. Her score was not figured into the Grizzlies’ team total.
Led by Dominique Dinalllo’s individual best round of 74 on the 6,295-yard, par-72 course, the Colorado State University-Pueblo ThunderWolves won the team title at 320 while the host Rangers took advantage of the home course to finish second at 325.
Franklin (Ind.) College finished third at 329 while Sioux Falls (S.D.) took fourth at 332.
The Grizzlies and Colorado Christian were tied for fifth, one shot ahead of Fort Hays State (Kan.), which took seventh at 338. Minot State (N.D.) (351), Chadron State (378) and South Dakota Mines (394) rounded out the field.
The Grizzlies are now off until the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held Apr. 16-17 at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz. outside of Phoenix.
